About Us

How it started.

Fed up with no in-person social events in her area, Jenny wanted to make it easy to socialise with other keen sewists. In April 2023, she set up a Zoom call and mentioned it on her personal Instagram page. A few people signed up, and was blown away when seven people logged on to chat and sew together! Ever since, Jenny hasn’t felt lonely in her sewing space, talking about all things sewing and attendees helping each other out with issues and advice.

Jenny set up regular sessions, going from monthly to weekly as demand grew. Within a few months, there were regulars and Jenny needed help to grow. She invited some friendly regulars as volunteer hosts, so she could take a back seat sometimes.

The Virtual Sewing Room now has four co-hosts welcoming attendees into to a safe and friendly space for people to craft and chat together.

    Dee @Sewing_Cinderella

    CO-HOST

A regular from day one, Dee brings lots of creativity. Having only recently discovered the joys of dressmaking, Dee has also dabbled in shoemaking.

  • Lucy @the_Sewing_Gerdener

    CO-HOST

Another regular from day one, Lucy has become a familiar face in the VSR community. When she isn’t dressmaking, Lucy has found patience for a super king Enghish paper pieced hexy quilt.

  • Bea @MissBeaCurtis

    CO-HOST

Encouraging and friendly, Bea joined us from May 2023 before joining as a host in 2024. She has been inspiring with her participation in #MendMarch and #LastSewistStanding challenges.

  • Mandy @MakeItSew2023

    CO-HOST

After one session one November evening, Mandy was a regular attendee, sharing her vlogging ways! Don’t be surprised if she is making something purple.
