VSR meets Pachamama

Back in May 2024, Virtual Sewing Room hosted a sewalong for Charity. Inspired by a colleague using a volunteer work day to use her sewing to benefit others, Jenny created a dedicated session to promote and encourage sewists to use their time to help others too.
Thanks attendee Charlotte for the idea.

Pachamama Project

”Period poverty is the lack of availability and access to sanitary products, normally, due to financial constraints. This causes many women to resort to using scraps of tissue or even socks which can lead to infections.
We actively encourage young people in the UK, who may be interested in working in the not-for-profit sector in the future, to get involved with our project and build their skillset. “

To kick things off, Jenny chatted with Pachamama founder Ellie for a chat all things Sanitary Pads.

We hosted a session on #WorldMenstrualHygieneDay to help raise knowledge of the issues around period poverty.

Here is the round-up post about our Sewalong on May 28th 2024:

We hope to run this session again in the future.
